Dress Aloud privacy policy

The short version

Your photo stays on your device. When you start a try-on, the photo and the garment picture are sent to our server and on to Google's Gemini API, which makes the try-on picture and the description. They are not kept on our server afterwards. We never sell data and we show no advertising.

What the app and the Chrome and Edge extension handle

• Your full-body photo, height, weight and measurements. Stored only in your browser or phone (IndexedDB inside the app or extension). We do not upload them for storage. They leave your device only inside a try-on request, to make the picture and the honest assessment for that request.
• The store page you are on. Only when you start a try-on, the extension sends the page you are on (its address and content) to dressaloud.com so it can read the product name, picture, fabric, sizes and size chart. Nothing about the pages you browse is sent while you are simply browsing; the "this looks like clothing" announcement is made locally on your device.
• Your access code. Used to count try-ons. We store the code, how many try-ons it has used, and, for purchases, the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers so you can manage your plan. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
• Try-on results. The picture, description and assessment are saved in your browser's history inside the app, on your device, so you can hear them again. You can delete them at any time.

Watching an item for you. If you press "Tell me if this comes back in my size or drops in price", the server keeps that page's address, the size, the item's name and price, and the email on your account if there is one, for 90 days or until you press "Stop watching" under My account. It re-reads the store page about every six hours and tells you in the app, and by email if you have one, when the size is back or the price falls. No photo or measurement is part of a watch.

Asking a sighted friend. If you press "Ask a sighted friend", that one try-on picture, the item name, the size and the verdict are stored on our server behind an unguessable link for 7 days, then deleted. Your friend sees only that page and can leave a reply, which is stored with it and read to you in the app. Nothing else about you, no measurements, no other pictures, is on that page.

Purchases and how they fit. If you tell Dress Aloud that you bought something and whether it fit, that answer and your size at that brand stay on your device. The only thing sent to us is a count: which kind of verdict it was and how it turned out. No item, no name, no photo.

Who we share data with

• Google (Gemini API) makes the try-on picture and the spoken description. Under Google's paid API terms, prompts and images are not used to train Google's models. Google keeps them for up to 55 days only to detect misuse and to meet legal requirements.
• Stripe processes payments and subscriptions.
• Stores. Buy links go to the store's own page exactly as the store wrote them. We add no affiliate tag and no tracking, and we earn nothing when you buy. The store sees only that you followed a link.

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or for anything unrelated to making the try-on work.

Retention

Photos and page content in a try-on request are processed and discarded; they are not written to our disks. Access-code records are kept while the code is in use and for 12 months afterwards for accounting. Server logs without photos are kept for up to 30 days.

Your choices

To delete your account, follow the steps at dressaloud.com/delete-account.html.

• Delete your photo, measurements and history from the app at any time; uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored.
• Email mike@dressaloud.com to have an access code and its records deleted.

Children

Dress Aloud is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
